An agreement with High Performance Wind-Turbines Pty Ltd (HPW) an Australian based company was formalized.
HPW has been working for over 12 years to formulate and create a new High Performance Wind-turbine (Vertical Axis) designed to supersede the current “eyesore” Fan Turbines located throughout Europe and here in Australia.
Comet Windmills Australia has agreed to the supply and erection of towers and other technical engineering and data alliance strategies. Web: www.hpwturbines.com

Lloyd Energy Systems Pty Ltd appointed Comet Windmills Australia to carry out the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management of steel towers for their solar thermal power station at Lake Cargellico.
In what is believed to be a world first, purified graphite is being used for energy storage in systems being installed at Lake Cargellico in New South Wales and Cloncurry in Queensland. Lloyd Energy Systems, an Australian company has created a large scale, low cost, energy storage system. The power plant will consist of numerous power towers that use an array of solar heliostats to focus sunlight to a graphite block in a central tower. The graphite block will be used as a thermal storage mechanism to deliver power on a continuous basis during operating hours.
The graphite blocks located on top of the towers are each the size of a shipping container - making the system easily deployed to remote locations. Other heat storage systems, which use water or underground compressed air, cannot be relocated. The four post towers supplied by Comet are easy to erect and dismantle if needed.
The two projects being undertaking are located in remote rural areas that are at the end of the grid. At the present moment, as electricity consumption has increased over the years a lot of those branches have difficulty supplying power.
This technology simply provides an alternate energy generation system so at Lake Cargelligo and in Clonclurry, they will do three things. Firstly they generate renewable energy, which is a substitution for non-renewable energy. Secondly it also provides what they call ‘network support’, so as the grid starts to struggle it pushes electricity back into the grid to stabilise it and thirdly serves as a grid support.
Clonclurry in Queensland, will be the first town in Australia to depend exclusively on solar power.
The purified graphite technology was invented by Australian Scientist, Bob Lloyd, while working in the power industry and coal mines. Web: www.lloydenergy.com

Darren from Comet Windmills attended the annual World Aquaculture Conference in Kualar Lumpur Malaysia in November 2009. This was part of the business expansion into the aquaculture industry and assisting the agent representative that has recently signed with the company.
On the west coast of Malaysia a 14ft Comet Windmill has been installed as part of a Government trial where data will be monitored to add value to their aquaculture industry.
August 2009
An agreement was signed with Mr Bluey Chew from Malaysia to represent the company in the countries agreed to within Mr Chews’ scope of experience.
